THE WAR OF ART… NOT THE ART OF WAR…

Hey if you are an artist out there or any kind of creative type and well versed at "volin" playing, admittedly or not, you may want to check out the "War of Art" by Steven Pressfield. The book is a light easy read with lots of white space.

The mothership told me I really needed to read it. Course they are always barking at me to read this or do that or go here or there. I sometimes get a little sick of their smart aleck attitude just because they can do their dimensional travel thing and we can't. Other times they are great don't get me wrong but give them a batch of those crackle berries that they are always eating and they just get on my nerves with all their endless babbling. I tried to grab one of those berries once but they caught me. They said that they weren't sure human circuts could handle them. Though they did say mine might because of a lot of them are not hooked up. It was hard to get an straight answer out of them though since they are always laughing when they eat those things.

Anyway I read the book just to shut them up and what a read! I sat down one night for a nice thoughtless bit of easy new agey reading. Wow! Snagged me right between the eyes with a left jab I wasn't expecting. Next thing you know all I was seeing was white space and then stars… I could not put it down and read the whole thing that night! It was kind of like someone telling you that you have toilet paper hanging out the back of your pants or that you must have stepped in "something" at the class reunion dance.

It sure made me realize how many crybaby artists/creative types there are out there. Even worse I was their poster boy!! It's a clean easy eye opening read. I have referred it to a few other good artists I know and the response is usually the same. They comment on how good it was and then quietly and sneak off the subject fast. That tells me they got it. The resistant ones usually bark boldly about how it was "OK" but of course nothing they needed. Then to proceed on to telling me about tragic or successful their art world is…

Anyway best book I have read since I first learned to read three years ago!! Don't ask to borrow my copy either. Buy your own it will be one of the best books you buy. Not only that but you will help support the genious that wrote it.  I have read it a few times now over the last year and just love it.  If you are an artist I highly recommend it even if it does hurt. It won't kill you but will make you stronger. Plus it will get you the hell off the couch and over to your tools, whatever they are. The world is waiting. It will cost you the price of a couple fancy coffee's and of course you will have to miss that government funding protest but you will be better off for it...
